Category 3: The Hate Wall

This week on campus is, "Erase the Hate Week." There are different activities to highlight diversity and promote awareness all around campus. One of the activities is the Hate Wall in the Union. This is a huge white board that anyone can write hateful things about what they think. In my opinion, the hate wall is a good idea because after the week is over, the wall is destroyed along with all of the hateful things written on it. I have heard many people talking and saying that this is very hateful and is just giving those people a way to just write bad stereotypes and curse words in a public setting. I agree that there are very hateful comments written on the wall. One of the things that got to me was a girl wrote, "I am a size 18 and I am still healthy. At least I am not an anorexia size 2 and unhealthy." I am a size two and I am very healthy. This wall has shown how diverse everyone on campus is and that it is alright to be different then everyone else.
